Privacy Policy

Takereel is built local-first on purpose. The short version: your recordings never touch our servers, and we collect as little as we can get away with.

The app

• Recordings stay on your Mac. Takereel writes ordinary video files to ~/Movies/Takereel on your machine. We never receive, see, or store them.
• No analytics, no telemetry. The app does not phone home about your usage.
• License activation. When you activate a license, the app verifies it and stores the result on your Mac. It does not re-check over the network to keep working.
• Optional AI features. If you add your own Anthropic API key, transcripts you choose to process are sent to Anthropic under your account. The key is stored only on your Mac. Leave it unset and nothing is sent.
• Optional Google Drive publishing. If you connect Google Drive, Takereel can only touch files it created (the narrow drive.file scope) and your tokens stay on your Mac. We never see your Drive or your Google login.

The website

• This site makes no tracking requests — no analytics scripts, no ad pixels, no cookies of ours.
• Download counts are measured in aggregate (country, referrer, browser type). We do not log your IP address with downloads.
• The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes network data (like IP addresses) to deliver the site and prevent abuse, per Cloudflare's privacy policy.

When you buy

• Payments are processed by Stripe (and, when offered, PayPal). We never see or store your card number.
• From a purchase we receive and keep the minimum needed to deliver and support your license: your email address, the license ID we issued you, the amount, and a payment reference. That's the whole record.
• Your license email is sent through Resend, our email delivery provider.

What we don't do

• We don't sell, rent, or share your information with anyone for marketing.
• We don't send marketing email. You get your license email and replies to messages you send us.
• We don't profile you, track you across the web, or run ads.

Your choices

Want your purchase record corrected or deleted, or a copy of what we hold about you (it's the one small record described above)? Email [email protected] and a human will handle it. Note that deleting your record means we can no longer re-send a lost license.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. We won't quietly weaken it.
